1. Right Mindset

At the start of every yoga journey, it’s paramount that you have the right mindset. Release all expectations at the start of your practice. Relax, be patient and keep in mind that yoga is an ongoing journey where everyone learns at their own pace. Set your intentions before your practice and be in the presence.

2. Space Within

Look for a clutter free space at home with minimal distractions. It can be in your living hall, garden, or anywhere that you are comfortable with. As long as it gives you ample space to stretch and the comfort of obscurity to do different poses, that will do.

It’s important that the yoga mat offer a good grip to ensure both stability and allow safe posturing. Yoga blocks are good to have too as these can help you to improve your alignment.

5. Empty Stomach

It’s best to refrain from eating at least 2 hours before your practice as this will give your stomach sufficient time to digest. It’s important to keep yourself hydrated before and after your practice too.

When starting out, it’s important to stick to a routine. It may be challenging and uncomfortable at first but it’s crucial for you to continue with it. Once you are able to commit at least twice or thrice a week, this is where you can increase the duration or frequency of it.
